YANAGI, TAKI, SENTA RELOCATES TO THOMASVILLE, NC

Yanagi, Taki, Senta has moved and is now located in Thomasville, N.C. 322 Boggs Rd. and specializes in Daito-Ryu Aikijujustu, as well as Goju-Ryu Karate, Iaido, and Tai Chi. This is the first Bokyukan Daito-Ryu Aikijujutsu Dojo in North Carolina. Our Hombu Dojo is Yonazawa Dojo located in E. Rutherford NJ and are a member dojo of the Bokyukan. Sensei JoAnn Vangieson is a 4th Dan and certified by the Bokyukan as a Daito-Ryu instructor. Sensei JoAnn can be reached at joannvangieson@yahoo.com or (920)960-1198.

Also just announced is a visit from Shihan Tung in the spring. This will be a 3-day seminar. Details and date to follow.

For those in Wisconsin who are interested in any of these arts Sensei Mary Konen (920-517-1520) will be teaching Daito-Ryu, and Phil Kifer (920-904-4851) can be contacted for instruction in the other arts.


Upcoming Events

Yanagi Taki Senta is excited to announce an upcoming spring Karate seminar to be taught by Shihan Roger Wehrhahn.  Shihan Wehrhahn brings with him close to 40 years of experience in the martial arts including Muso Shinden Ryu Iaido, Ryukyu kobudo, Goju Ryu and Shorin Ryu Karate as well as several other styles of martial arts.   Dates to be posted when available.


Current Events

October 22, 2009: In two weeks time Sensei JoAnn will be traveling to Pennsylvania for an annual Iaido Instructors meeting with Shihan Roger Wehrhahn. 

October 18, 2009 marked the end of a bi-yearly weekend daito-ryu seminar lead by Shihan Tim Tung from New Jersey. The seminar consisted of rank testing for the students as well as Shihan sharing new intermediate and advanced techniques, a bojustu session and a taiji class for the local seniors group. Saturday night a dinner was held in which students and their families gathered and were able to ask Shihan Tung questions about his martial arts experience, family, and what his vision for the future of daito-ryu is. Overall the weekend was a success and students are looking forward to having him visit again in the spring.

Sensei JoAnn recently held a Taiji seminar at the Fond du Lac Seniors Center that showcased applications of techniques taught in the Yang style short form.
